At a working meeting in Sofia with Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov stated that as President of the Council of the EU, Bulgaria will support Albania’s efforts to begin EU accession negotiations.

Emphasis was laid on the fact that regional cooperation plays an important role in consolidating stability and development in the region, and that building Corridor 8 from the Adriatic to the Black Sea is a priority in this respect. Boyko Borissov once again thanked the Albanian side for including the Bulgarian minority in the law on the protection of national minorities in Albania. On his part, Edi Rama thanked the Bulgarian side for its humanitarian aid for the victims of the floods in Albania.
