Ekaterina Zaharieva discusses religious tolerance, the migrant crisis and combating terrorism with MPs from Iranian parliament

How to combat terrorism and hate speech, tolerance among different religions and finding a solution to the migrant crisis – these were the talking points during a meeting Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva held in Sofia with Ahmad Alireza Beigi,chairman of the friendship group – Bulgaria of the parliament of Iran.

Combating terrorism is our shared cause, said Zaharieva and added that there are more Muslim victims of terrorist acts than there are Christians. She stated that all countries are duty-bound to make efforts for preaching tolerance among religions. In her words the integration of foreign nationals is crucial to stability on the Old Continent. Ahmad Alireza Beigi agreed, adding that the Iranian government is ready to fight the root causes of terrorism by devoting particular attention to the processes of migration. The sides stated there was great progress in the development of tourism and an increase in trade between the two countries.
