Minister Pavlova presents final programme of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU

Lilyana Pavlova, Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency presented, in parliament, the final programme of the Bulgarian Presidency. She pointed out that the country’s successful performance as President of the Council of the EU will require political consensus, dialogue and concord.

Pavlova added that the National Assembly’s contribution has been taken into account to the highest degree in the final version of the programme and the priorities. Minister Pavlova stated that she returned form Strasburg last night where she was commended for the fact that Bulgaria knows what the problems, but also the priorities facing the EU are. Lilyana Pavlova explained that Bulgaria had presented, first, its key message of unity and stability within the European agenda and the four priorities: The future of young people, crucial to which is the future budget for 2020 in light of Brexit; the Western Balkans; Security and stability with a focus on migration, relocation and the issue of implementing the common defence system; and economic growth with a focus on the single digital market.
