Hundreds of people of all ages lined up in front of the Bulgarian National Bank building since the early hours of the morning and patiently awaited their turn to buy the two coins issued to commemorate the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The commemorative coin with a nominal value of 10 Leva is made out of pure silver and is partially gilded. The coin has a limited circulation – only 3,000, sold for 66 Leva. The 2 Leva coin intended for circulation with a European Presidency logo on it has a circulation of 500,000. The Ministry for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU has also purchased coins – 50,000 of the coins intended for circulation and 1,000 of the commemorative coins. They will be used as gifts for the participants in the events during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
