At its first sitting for the year, the Bulgarian government allocated an additional 15 million Leva to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).

This sum was negotiated at the end of December by PM Boyko Borissov and the Academy administration after protests by BAS researchers. The money will be distributed among the BAS sections on the basis of results and an evaluation of the research work.

The cabinet also decided to propose to the National Assembly the ratification of Convention 131 of the International Labour Organization which will expedite negotiations on the formation of the minimum wage in this country. In accordance with this document it will be negotiated and periodically reviewed after consultations with representative worker and employee organizations. The cabinet also endorsed the 2017-2018 National Programme for Prevention and Protection from Domestic Violence.
