63 percent of Bulgarians disapprove of possible ratification of the Istanbul Convention, according to a study by Barometer Bulgaria conducted in January.

The leaders of two of the main political formations in this country - United Patriots and the Bulgarian Socialist Party, as well as the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and all of the religious communities represented in this country have also voiced their opposition, which further hardens the attitude of opponents of the document.

According to the survey, low incomes, social issues and bureaucracy were the issues of significant importance to Bulgarian society. The poll also showed that the attitude towards the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU was positive.
