Child adoptions in Bulgaria increased with 5% in 2017, the Bulgarian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced. 578 children were adopted in Bulgaria and 306 were adopted abroad last year, the ministry further informs. 473 children were at the age of three or under and only 55 children were aged between three and five. There are over 1,300 abandoned children aged 10 or above who stand the lowest chance of being adopted. The children with disabilities are just over 1,000. The Bulgarian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy is planning to update the measures aimed at preventing abandonment of children.
