CITUB: Each member of a family of four needs 297 euros a month

The cost of living in Bulgaria amounted to an average of 297 euro a month per member of a four-member household at the end of December 2017, while in order to have a normal standard of living, costs of such a family reached over 1176 euros. This is what data from the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) show.

The cost of living has been gradually rising along with incomes. However, there is imbalance, as wealthy Bulgarians become richer and the poor are getting poorer. The necessary funds needed to cover costs of living in Sofia is significantly higher - nearly 387 euros per person.

The minimum salary in this country is 261 euros.
