Tsveta Karayancheva, President of the Bulgarian National Assembly has met in Brussels with European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel.
The two commended the top priority of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU – the European perspective for the Western Balkans. Tsveta Karayancheva and Mariya Gabriel focused on the European perspective for the Western Balkans as an additional guarantee of security in the region and in the whole of Europe. Mariya Gabriel laid emphasis on the need for more funding for digitisation, within the next multiannual financial framework, with a focus on digital skills, cyber-security and supercomputers. In an interview for the French daily Les Echos prior to the meeting, Mariya Gabriel stressed that the EU countries must pool their efforts so as to be able to achieve better competitiveness in the sphere of high-tech.
