Monday ushered in freezing weather in Bulgaria with temperatures dropping to 10, 15 degrees C below zero and abundant snowfall.

The snow disrupted traffic in Sofia this morning, and the paid parking zones in the city centre were closed. Sofia Airport is operating under winter conditions and heavy snow. The passage of heavy-duty vehicles across Kulata border checkpoint was temporarily suspended due to heavy snow on the territory of Greece.

The Macedonian border authorities have suspended the traffic of lorries across Deve Bair border crossing in both directions. The ferries along the Danube at Somovit and Svishtov are not operational.
