The celebrations in Sofia on occasion of Bulgaria’s National Liberation Day March 3 started with 20 gun salutes, the Bulgarian national anthem and a ceremony of hoisting the national flag in front of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier. Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov, Bulgaria’s Vice President Iliana Iotova and the Chief of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria Lieutenant General Andrey Botsev laid wreaths to the monument of the people who sacrificed their lives for Bulgaria’s freedom.
