At a commemorative ceremony in Skopje on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the deportation of the Jews from the territory of present-day Macedonia, the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Macedonia, Boyko Borissov and Zoran Zaev laid a wreath together at the Monument to the Fallen.
Recalling that just 20 years ago there were also bloodshed and cruel events in the Balkans, PM Borissov added that it was necessary to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust in order to understand that in the Balkans we must work together for the better future of peoples, leaving the mistakes of the past in history.
Prime Minister Zaev said that history repeats only for those who remain blind to the lessons it teaches. The participation of his counterparts from Bulgaria and from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the commemoration, as well as the participation of representatives of the Romanian Parliament in the ceremony, was defined by PM Zaev as a benchmark for the civilization choices these countries have made.
