Two recidivists who escaped from Sofia Central Prison declared internationally wanted

Two recidivists who escaped yesterday from the Sofia Central Prison have been declared internationally wanted, Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Mladen Marinov, has announced.

One of the criminals - Vladimir Pelov, had been sentenced to 30 years in prison for armed robbery, attempted murder of a policeman and kidnapping, while the other - Radoslav Kolev, has a 26-year sentence for murder.

The two escaped, armed with "a firearm and a knife", as they managed to neutralize attempts of prison staff to stop them, including those of a janitor lady who also intervened, Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva told reporters. As part of the investigation, the 20-year-old son of Vladimir Pelov was arrested.
