On May 11 the Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors Saints Cyril and Methodius who lived in the 9th century AD. In 862 they created the oldest Bulgarian alphabet- the Glagolitic alphabet. Cyril and Methodius are also known as two of the fathers of the Slavic literary culture who influenced the cultural development and education of the Slavs. They also defended at the popular trilingual dispute the right of the Bulgarian people to worship God in their own language as well. A delegation headed by the Archbishop and Macedonia Stefan has arrived in Sofia for the feast at the invitation of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
