Prime Minister Borissov invites Pope Francis to visit Bulgaria

During the traditional annual audience with the head of the Roman Catholic Church on May 24, celebrating the role of Bulgaria in preserving and developing the work of Saints Cyril and Methodius, declared by the Catholic Church as patrons of Europe, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov invited Pope Francis to pay a visit to Bulgaria.

On behalf of the Bulgarian people, PM Borissov expressed his gratitude to the Pope and the Catholic Church for blessing the Bulgarian alphabet.

After the audience, the Prime Minister said the Pope plans to pay a visit to Bulgaria, Romania or another Balkan by the next year.
