A Balkan Hackathon is taking place in Sofia, under the patronage of the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel.
The main challenge at the 24-hour Hackathon is the digital divide: making sure no European citizens are left behind in the digital age. Thirty teams have registered for participation - from various firms, universities, technological parks and innovation companies from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia and Turkey.
