Mitko Yakimov, chairman of the Deaf Unlimited Bulgaria Foundation said, in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio, that 12 organizations of people with hearing impairments have submitted a request to the National Assembly for sign language to be recognized as official.
The foundation has conducted a national survey, as a result of which a Bulgarian sign language dictionary has been compiled, as well as a scientific description of its grammar.
