Bulgarians drive secondhand cars in large numbers, more than half of them being over 20 years old, indicate data by Eurostat and the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association.

People in Belgium drive the newest cars – 7 years old on average. There were around 3.4 million cars registered in Bulgaria last year. The share of diesel and petrol vehicles in the country is almost even, though many of the petrol powered cars also have gas fueling systems.

There is a negligible number of registered eco-cars in the country – only 2,474 hybrid vehicles and just 274 electric cars.
