Bulgarian Chess Federation 1928 becomes member of FIDE

The Bulgarian Chess Federation 1928, which received a license in 2017, has become a member of FIDE, Bulgaria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Krasen Kralev announced in the social media, Dnevnik daily informs. The former Bulgarian Chess Federation was excluded from FIDE at the FIDE 2018 General Assembly in Batumi. The Bulgarian chess is again part of the world chess family. As of today, the Bulgarian chess players will be able to compete under the Bulgarian flag again, Minister Kralev announced.

The crisis in the Bulgarian chess started with an investigation against the Chairman of the Bulgarian Chess Federation Slivio Danailov. Later, the Bulgarian Chess Federation was excluded from FIDE. Minister Krasen Kralev issued a license to the Bulgarian Chess Federation 1928, but his actions were challenged in court by the Bulgarian Chess Federation.
