During his official visit to Sofia, Poland's President Andrzej Duda met with his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev. After the meeting, the two presidents called on Russia for restraint, intelligent decisions and de-escalation through dialogue. The presidents hope civil liberties would be guaranteed and no force would be used and called for the immediate return of Ukraine's detained ships.

During talks in Sofia, the Polish president expressed hope that in a few years the Via Carpathia project would connect Poland and Bulgaria. Later, Duda also met with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. They pointed out the excellent state of bilateral co-operation and welcomed the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Poland.
