Household spending on alcohol in Bulgaria stands at EU average: Eurostat

Households in Bulgaria spend 1.7 percent of their total consumption expenditure on alcoholic beverages, a Eurostat report indicates.

This ranks Bulgaria in 15th position put of all 28 countries members of the EU. Over the 2007-2017 period, the expenditure of Bulgarian households on alcoholic beverages has gone down considerably – from 3 down to 1.7 percent.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania spend the highest share of their household expenditure on alcohol (5.2, 4.9 and 4 percent of their total consumption expenditure respectively), Spain, Greece and Italy spend the least (under 1 percent for each country).
