The international organization Human Rights Watch does not devote a special chapter to Bulgaria in its 2018 report. This country was mentioned in relation to 4 issues only: forced deportation of migrants in countries outside the EU; the murdered Bulgarian journalist Victoria Marinova; Bulgaria as one of the EU member states where cases of racial intolerance accompanied with violence and hate crimes were ascertained. Human Rights Watch also mentioned Bulgaria as a country which refused to sign the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention).
