In an official position in relation with the crisis in Venezuela the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced confidence that being a President of the National Assembly of Venezuela and serving as interim President of this country Juan Guaidó will appoint free, transparent and fair Presidential elections. Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry reminded that on January 26 the European Union, including Bulgaria, called on Venezuela to hold urgent Presidential elections and that this country was facing a huge humanitarian crisis. Shortly before the reaction of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev pointed out that the political crisis in Venezuela can be overcome only through transparent elections in line with the constitution of this country and under international monitoring. According to Bulgaria’s head of state Radev, Bulgaria should refrain from supporting the proposed European Union position recognizing Juan Guaidó as interim President of Venezuela.
