Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva is to take part in the third conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region” in Brussels, alongside representatives of 85 countries and regional organizations.

The forum will discuss humanitarian issues concerning Syrians and the communities receiving refugees. In connection with the conference, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs points out that, alongside the EU, Bulgaria supports the measures for a political settlement of the conflict in Syria within the frameworks of the UN-led Geneva peace process and for an improvement of the humanitarian situation. Sofia shares the idea that Syria’s reconstruction can only begin after a genuine political process.
