The 38th military contingent of the Bulgarian armed forces consists of 150 service men. 112 of them will be part of the company that will guard an airport in Kandahar. The rest of the staff formed by military advisers and staff officers will serve at the headquarters of the NATO mission and at different institutions in Afghanistan. The national commander of the contingent is Colonel Ivan Ivanov from the Logistics Directorate at the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense.
