The salaries of 70% of the Bulgarians are lower than the average wages in this country-EUR 615 a month. Most people receive salaries ranging between EUR 358 and 409, despite the last income increase (8%-12%) negotiated in 2018, the President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria Plamen Dimitrov said. Since 2007 the labor unions have insisted that the price of night labor increased to 51 Eurocents per hour, but workers are still paid the meager 13 Eurocents per hour, Plamen Dimitrov pointed out. The cost if night labor negotiated in collective labor agreements is much higher, but unfortunately the collective agreements cover only 30% of the workforce in the country, Plamen Dimitrov said. The salaries must grow with at least 10%-15% a year, if we want to reach the standard of living in the EU, the leader of CITUB contends.
