Dance groups from three continents will arrive in Plovdiv for the International Folklore Festival that will be held between July 29 and August 2. The festival will be held for the 25th consecutive year. Folklore groups and ensembles from Spain, India, Moldova, Mali, Serbia and Bulgaria are expected to participate at the festival. Trakia Folklore Ensemble will mark its 45th anniversary with a separate concert. The ensembles will hold two concerts each evening. The first concert at 6 pm marks the end of their procession on the main street and their official evening performance will start at 8 pm at the Antique Theater. The entrance is free of charge. The festival continues in another town in Plovdiv district – Peshtera. On July 30 a concert with the participation of ensembles from India and Moldova will be held there. On July 31 ensembles from Mali and Serbia will perform on stage. On August 1 the joint project between Plovdiv 2019 Foundation and the Dutch city of Leeuwarden (European capital of culture 2018) named “As she sings” will be presented on the open stage in front of Plovdiv Municipality. The project unites artists from three different cultures-Jewish, Bulgarian and Roma. Musicians from the Netherlands, as well as musicians from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv and Brestovitsa Orchestra will participate at the event. All ensembles will perform at the concert on August 2 on the stage of the Antique Theater.
