The detected case of anthrax in North Macedonia is not a threat to Bulgaria. According to the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, anthrax is a disease typical of our region and is not among the group of human-to-human and animal-to-animal transmitted diseases. The disease is caused by a bacillus that the animals absorb with their fodder. Anthrax is also periodically found in Bulgaria - almost every year, but it does not develop as an epidemic and does not spread to large territories.
