Support for EU accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia

The foreign ministers of Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece and Romania have adopted a joint declaration on the European Perspective of the Western Balkans.

Prior to the EU General Affairs Council, we confirm that EU enlargement in the region is a mutually beneficial and strategic investment in Europe's security, stability and prosperity, ministers stated. The start of accession talks would enable Skopje and Tirana to focus on necessary reforms. At the same time, the EU will be able to closely monitor progress on the implementation of neighborhood agreements, such as the Treaty on Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, as well as the Prespa Agreement between Greece and North Macedonia, the document reads.
