Bulgaria’s national men’s football team lost 0:6 to England in a Euro 2020 qualifier on the national stadium Vasil Levski in Sofia, thus suffering the heaviest home defeat in the whole history of the Bulgarian football. The game was interrupted twice due to racist chanting against the English players and the game was in danger of being abandoned. Bulgaria remained last in its group after the heavy defeat with 3 points earned in 7 games. In the other qualifier Kosovo defeated Montenegro 2:0 and is only 1 point behind the second in the ranking- the Czech Republic.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has strongly condemned racist behavior of some Bulgarian fans during yesterday's match between Bulgaria and England in Sofia. The PM has seen footage and thinks it is "vile and has no place in football or anywhere else". “This stain on football is not being adequately dealt with. Racism and discrimination must be driven out of football once and for all,” Boris Johnson's spokesman added. The PM called for urgent investigation and severe sanctions.
