The ruling GERB party won the mayoral elections in 9 district cities, the Bulgarian Socialist Party won 4 district cities and independent candidates won in 6 district cities at the run-off elections held on November 3, official data of this country’s Central Election Commission shows. GERB won a total of 15 district cities at the first round and the run-off elections. Four years ago at the previous local elections the ruling party won 21 district cities. In 2019 candidates nominated or supported by BSP won four district cities-Ruse, Pernik, Razgrad and Blagoevgrad. Yordanka Fandakova (GERB) won the run-off elections in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. She earned 49.98% of the votes. The independent candidate Maya Manolova who was supported by the Bulgarian Socialist Party earned 45.13% of the votes in Sofia.
