Miroslav Ivanov releases his third author’s album Little Alien

Bulgarian guitarist Miroslav Ivanov demonstrated his skills and talent in many popular music formations such as Safo, The Usual Suspects, Funkallero, Saint Electrics and Metamorfoza. He is among the Bulgarian instrumentalists who has individual approach both in the interpretation and improvisation field. Miroslav Ivanov has been an active musician for over 20 years. He showed the listeners and the music fans an unusual way of thinking. Recently, the guitarist presented his third author’s album named Little Alien.

It consists of 9 pieces. Bassist Evden Dimitrov takes part in some of the songs. In 2013, Miroslav released the album Directions and three years later his second album Circus came out. Now, Miro’s music fans can see how he has developed over the years in his third album – Little Alien.

Poli Gerasimova came up with the idea about the title of the new album. She is in charge of the vision of the whole music project. She made the jackets of the previous two albums, as well as the scenography of the promotions. One day I played her one of the new pieces in demo version and she said categorically: Little Alien. In the beginning, I did not take her proposal seriously, but later I got that idea, because Little Allien could mean many things and I like such ambiguous word combinations. I wrote a piece which is also named Little Alien and currently I am making the video to it together with Vasil Strefanov. The topic has a cause- the extinction of bees. The video tells us that we view bees as aliens, which is somehow abstract.

In Miroslav Ivanov’s third album, the listeners can notice jazz improvisations, folklore motifs, blues sounding, electronic beat and beatbox. This project is quite different from the other two albums. Miroslav has a new team- in Little Alien he plays with young musicians such as Evden Dimitrov (bass guitar), Stefan Goranov (percussions), Zhivko Vasilev (shepherd’s flute) and Skiller (beatbox). Miroslav Ivanov wants his album to be promoted by a foreign label, so it can reach a bigger audience. In January next year Little Alien will be presented in other Bulgarian cities and in the summer of 2020 it will be part of various music festivals.
