Uruguayan Danubio (F.C.) has paid tribute to its Bulgarian roots using the colors of the Bulgarian flag on the team’s team’s third kit.
Danubio was founded on March 1, 1932 by two Bulgarian emigrants, Mihail (Miguel) and Ivan (Juan) Lazaroff, and the name of the club was given by their mother, María Mincheff de Lazaroff, who named it after the river that outlines the northern border of Bulgaria.
The slogan "La union hace la fuerza" (Unity makes strength) - a phrase written on the building of the Bulgarian National Assembly, as well as the first four stanzas of the national anthem of Bulgaria are also present on the kit.
