In the first days of 2020, a third, supplemented and revised edition of the book "History of the Earth" by Prof. Hristo Pimpirev has been released on the Bulgarian book market. In it, the prominent Bulgarian scientist and polar explorer traces the various stages in the development of the planet through the material collected and analysed by him in the course of twenty years. The book also provides up-to-date information on global climate change and new research findings of Bulgarian scientists on the Antarctic.
“This third edition of my book contains so far unpublished data and research from my scientific expeditions to all continents. Everything is intertwined with my personal impressions and my explorations of the earth’s surface, which are like pages of a book. These are the layers of the earth that a geologist can decipher and based on this write the history of the Earth”, Prof. Hristo Pimpirev told the Bulgarian National Radio.
The great Bulgarian scientist said that he made an effort to write "History of the Earth" in a more accessible language as his intention was to write a book not only for students of the Department of Geology and Palaeontology of Sofia University but also for readers with a general interest in this matter. Each chapter in the revised edition begins with a personal photograph of Professor Pimpirev's scientific studies around the world.
The book contains an analysis of his research during expeditions to the Nepal Himalayas, the Colombian Andes, the Canadian Arctic zone, etc. It also features the most important studies of Bulgarian scientists from recent national scientific expeditions to Antarctica.
