Bulgaria will continue diversifying its gas sources and gas supply routes, this country’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova said during her visit to the USA. In Washington, the Bulgarian delegation met with the United States Under Secretary of Energy Mark Menezes, the United States Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Francis Fannon, the Deputy Director General of the U.S and Foreign Commercial Service Dale Tasharski and representatives of the U.S. gas industry. Bulgaria will diversify 50% of its natural gas consumption by the end of 2020, Minister Petkova said. Bulgaria’s total gas consumption amounts to 3 billion cubic meters per year and half of this quantity (1.5 billion cubic meters) will come from Azerbaijan and supplies of liquefied natural gas.
