Sofia Georgieva, known only as Sofia, found her place on the Bulgarian pop scene more than 15 years ago. The song that made her popular is called “Sin Talisman” – a composition that has been a trademark of the pop singer to this day. She released her debut album named after the song back in 2004.
Singles followed but Sofia did not collect them in an album. This ended in 2019 when the singer made her return to the pop scene with her second album, entitled "The Road to You." It contains 11 songs in Bulgarian.
"’Road to You’ is the single that has given the name of the whole album. The music is written by Momchil Kolev and the arrangement is work by his son Kaloyan. The lyrics are by my good friend Lina Shishkova,” Sofia says. “In this album I have collected all the songs that I have performed after the release of my debut album. A friend of mine is responsible for collecting them and releasing them in a period when I did not have the desire to do so. Of course, now I'm not sorry for my decision. The first song is "For You" and the music is work of the Americans Alfred Dale Tohey and Thank Vu Bui. Lyrics are by Alexander Petrov. In ‘Breath and Flame’ I work again with Momchil Kolev and the lyrics are by Yana Lazarova. I'm a bit conservative and that's why the name of Momchil is often seen on the album. Alexander Petrov is one of my favorite songwriters. "Mirror Image" is a duet that I recorded with famous jazz singer Vasil Petrov. The music is the work of Ogi Tsvetkov and together with Lily Yoncheva they made the arrangement. She helped me a lot when I was in London, because I played this song myself there first. Lily found musicians and a studio to make it happen. And after I returned to Bulgaria, a friend of mine, Pancho Malezanov, gave the idea to record it again, this time with Vasil Petrov. He also liked the song a lot and so it turned out to be a great duet. Another very important composition for me in this album is ‘Crystal Silence’, because in it I was able to gather great musicians I have always admired. In addition to the well-known Momchil Kolev and Alexander Petrov, they were joined by Boris Karadimchev (arrangement) and Bobby Valchev (piano). I am very happy to have worked with them as I have learned a lot.”
Sofia also has a five-year "English" period in which she was closer to the pop music of the Island, but she is focused on her own musical style.
The new album has some New Wave influences. That is why it also carries the spirit of the 90s, but with modern touches, the Bulgarian pop singer adds.
