Bulgaria’s Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev sent letters to the General Secretariat of the Council and the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC), with a copy to the Presidents of the European Parliament and the European Commission, to approach them about the difficulties during the fulfillment of the extradition requests sent to the Serbian authorities to extradite Bulgarian businessman Tsvetan Vasilev. Ivan Geshev reminds that the first request was sent to the Serbian authorities more than five years ago.

In a letter to the Supreme Court in Belgrade, Bulgaria’s Prosecutor General informs that Bulgaria’s requests for the extradition of Tsvetan Vasilev sent in 2014 remain valid. Ivan Geshev points out that the criminal proceedings against the businessman over misappropriation of money from the bankrupt Corporate Commercial Bank is unprecedented in Bulgaria's jurisdiction and has huge influence over the economy and the financial stability of Bulgaria.
