Bulgaria to launch procedure for modernization of T-72 tanks

We are to modernize the T-72 tanks, Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov said. It will be much cheaper to modernize a high-quality tank such as the T-72 machine and equip it with sighting systems than buy a new tank which is 5 to 6 times more expensive, Krasimir Karakachanov went on to say and added that the German company Lürssen was selected to build two multi-role corvettes for the Bulgarian navy and talks on the final contract are now being held.

The delivery of 160 armored vehicles for the Bulgarian infantry will be delayed due to the quarantine in Europe. It is very likely that contracts will be signed by the end of the year and that we will start making payments from the beginning of 2021, Minister Karakachanov said.
