Bulgarian Academy of Sciences voices position on Russian interpretation of May 24

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences  is perplexed about the substitution of historical and linguistic facts, known to unprejudiced experts in Slavonic studies, including the Russian, the position of BAS on occasion of the exhibition held at the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia on occasion of the Day of Bulgarian Education, Culture and Slavonic Alphabet presenting the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius as “reformers of Slavonic script” and “creators of Church Slavonic language” reads. On the brightest Bulgarian holiday, an exhibition of a friendly country like Russia should take into account the indisputable contribution of the Old Bulgarian language to the cultural history of the world as the third sacred language in Europe, the position of BAS further reads.
