Bulgaria’s external debt decreases by EUR 576 million

At the end of March 2020, Bulgaria’s gross external debt stood at EUR 33,495 billion, or 51.5% of the country’s gross domestic product. The gross foreign debt decreased by 1.7% (EUR 576 million) as compared to the end of 2019. Bulgaria’s foreign debt decreased by 2.2% (EUR 738.3 million) as compared to the end of March 2019, the Bulgarian National Bank announced. The long-term debt fell 0.8% to EUR 25,705 billion as compared to March 2019. Bulgaria's long-term debt accounts for 76.7% of the gross external debt and 39.5% of the GDP.
