Nearly 3,000 tons of rose blossoms were picked in four Bulgarian districts- Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Stara Zagora and Sliven by May 21, 2020. A total of 4,600 hectares planted with oil-yielding rose were harvested. In the same period last year, only 1,000 tons of rose blossoms were picked, the latest operational analysis of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food shows. In 2020, the Bulgarian farmers are less interested in growing traditional crops such as tomatoes and peppers, the analysis further reads. 40% less agricultural land was planted with tomatoes as compared to 2019 and 30% less farmland was planted with peppers as compared to last year.
