A negative PCR test does not invalidate quarantine: healthcare attorney Maria Sharkova

“Quarantine begins on the day of the last contact with the confirmed Covid-19 case. The duration is connected with the incubation period. That is the view of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control,” said healthcare attorney Maria Sharkova for the BNR.

“A negative PCR test result of the quarantined individual does not suspend the order of the health authorities for application of the restriction. If the result of the new PCR test is positive, then another 14 days of quarantine begin. The quarantine order can be appealed in court, but the adjudication procedure is also 14 days. Quarantine is treated as confinement in European Court of Human Rights practice, and is subject to control of the application of the restriction,” Maria Sharkova comments.
