Plamen Mladenovski, nomination of the ruling GERB party for chairman of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, has withdrawn from the procedure.

Valentin Nikolov, head of parliament’s energy committee told the BNR that Mladenovski had withdrawn from the procedure because of the prevalent view among the public that the choice has already been made and the procedure is a foregone conclusion, and is not based on any of his personal qualities.

A new procedure will be launched for head of the energy regulator, Nikolov said. Plamen Mladenovski is currently head of the Electric and Thermal Energy unit at the commission.
