Over 750 signals about flooded streets, avenues, underground stations, stranded vehicles and residential districts left without electricity were sent in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia after the heavy thunderstorm last night. People living on ground floors were evacuated. Fire brigades continue to drain the flooded streets in some residential districts located in the southern part of Sofia. They are also draining basements and subways in the central part of the capital. Some large hospitals were also affected by the recent heavy rainfall. The waters of Perlovska, Slatinska and Vladaiska Rivers went out of the river beds. The situation has returned to normal after the interference of the emergency teams who continue to remove fallen trees and branches. Shafts have been cleared of leaves and mud.
