Businessman Plamen Bobokov who stands accused in the illegal waste affair, was questioned today as a witness in an investigation into trading in influence.

Talking to reporters he stated that he had given an explanation of his written communication with Petar Nenov who is serving a sentence in Bulgaria which he received in Romania. A few days ago the prosecutor’s office made public an exchange of chat messages between the two in which Nenov seeks Plamen Bobokov's assistance to be pardoned. Bobokov thanked “all Bulgarian politicians who support Bulgaria’s entrepreneurs” and stressed that he and his brother were serious investors who are now being “dragged by someone’s whim” into the affair. He denied having received assistance from the state for his business.
