This year the “sand city” comprises 14 compositions by 12 sculptors, 6 of them from Bourgas.
To carve out the impressive figures they used 5,600 tons of sand. The event is taking place under the motto: Crazy, funny, scary fairytale characters.
“I am glad we were able to organize the festival this year despite the difficult situation. It has come to be regarded as a Bourgas brand, and it was very important to be able to preserve it,” commented Diana Savateva, deputy mayor for culture, tourism and sports at Bourgas municipality. All anti-epidemic measures have been taken, the organizers say.
