Covid-19 tests at Bulgaria-Greece border are not mandatory

Testing for Covid-19 at the Bulgaria-Greece border crossings continues to be random and based on information from the electronic form filled by the citizens. According to information of Bulgaria’s Embassy in Athens, the maximum number of PCR tests was set at 3,000 pieces and if 3,000 people or less travel to Greece in a certain day, all of them will be tested for Covid-19 with PCR tests. People who are tested at Kulata-Promachonas border crossing provide information on the address where they will place themselves under a 48-hour quarantine. If their PCR test is positive, they will be contacted by the Greek authorities and placed under mandatory fourteen-day quarantine. Greece covers the accommodation costs during their quarantine and the expenses made on healthcare or hospital treatment, if such is necessary. If Bulgarians infected with Covid-19 wish to return to Bulgaria, instead of spending the fourteen-day quarantine in Greece, they will be allowed to depart immediately, without making stops on Greek territory until they reach the border with Bulgaria.
