Lobbyist amendments to Biodiversity Act are repealed

Only texts that comply with European legislation will be adopted in the Biodiversity Act, chairwoman of the Committee on Environment and Water and GERB MP Ivelina Vasileva said.

Changes prohibiting construction less than 100 meters away from the Black Sea coast will also be proposed. The decision came after a series of mass protests by environmentalists across the country against planned amendments to the Biodiversity Act, which threatened nature preservation in Natura 2000 protected areas.
