On the sixth day of the anti-government protests in Sofia late last night, an attempt was made by people to storm the building, which used to serve as the seat of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in the past and today is used for the needs of the parliament.

Tensions escalated shortly after 10:30 p.m. After fireworks were dropped by football fans near journalists and police, an attempt was made to storm the parliament. Two police officers and a citizen were injured in the clashes. Six people were detained. The deputy head of the Sofia Directorate of the Interior, Anton Zlatanov, described the perpetrators as "provocateurs" who came with "different goals" to the peaceful protest demonstration.

Anti-government protests also took place in a number of other cities in the country. Protests there went smoothly.
