At a cabinet sitting via video conference Prime Minister Boyko Borissov ordered Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova to make sure that from now on the cold reserve of the power system will be ensured only by the state-owned Maritsa Iztok 2 thermal power station, the government press service has announced.

Yesterday, Hristo Ivanov, co-chairman of the non-parliamentary coalition Democratic Bulgaria accused the government of having turned the cold energy reserve into the “philosopher’s stone” of the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Ahmed Dogan, who owns “Varna” thermal power plant. According to Hristo Ivanov in the space of just 2 years Ahmed Dogan has received from the state over 25 million euro for having the energy reserve maintained by “Varna” power station even though in this period it has only functioned five times.

The Supreme Prosecutor's Office of Cassation announced that based on Hrtisto Ivanov’s statement a probe will be initiated to look into whether a case has been opened or pre-trial proceedings initiated.
